Aqua America Names New Manager, Regulatory Affairs
BRYN MAWR, Pa., Jul 17, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Aqua America Inc. (NYSE:WTR) announced the appointment of Kimberly Joyce as manager, regulatory affairs.
In her new role, Joyce will lead a core regulatory team at Aqua America's headquarters that will provide key support functions to a newly decentralized rates operation, the primary work of which will be handled in the company's regional operations locations. Joyce will report directly to Chief Financial Officer David P. Smeltzer.
Joyce, an attorney who joined Aqua in February this year as assistant rate counsel, spent five years with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, most recently as counsel to Commissioner Kim Pizzingrilli. She previously clerked for Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court President Judge James Colins and worked for Baker & Botts, LLP in Washington, DC.
"Kim's previous experience working for the Pennsylvania Public Utility allowed her to hit the ground running when she joined the company earlier this year," said Smeltzer. "She has played a key role in numerous rate filings in various states. Her practical experience and regulatory expertise will enable her to excel in her new position."
Joyce earned her J.D. at the University of Pittsburgh and has a bachelor's degree in economics from Villanova University.
