Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. (Aqua) Chairman Nick DeBenedictis will host state and local officials at the site of the company's largest water treatment facility-- Pickering serving customers in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties--to unveil nearly $20 million of improvements recently made to the facility located in Schuylkill Township, Chester County. | ||
| The projects include a new residuals waste handling facility using de-watering technology which has virtually increased the capacity of the plant's sludge lagoons by reducing the amount of water in the waste, thereby increasing capacity for solids; two new energy efficient raw water intake facilities with total pumping capacity of 76 million gallons per day; an improved floodwall designed to protect against a 100-year flood; and a new equipment maintenance and storage facility. | |||

In addition to the direct benefit of having upgraded treatment facilities, Aqua's capital investment at the Pickering facility--along with work the company recently completed at its Crum Creek water treatment plant in Delaware County and its Neshaminy water treatment plant in Bucks County--generated approximately 135 full-time equivalent jobs.
