Aqua America Hires New Public Affairs Director
BRYN MAWR, Pa., Jan 18, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Aqua America, Inc. (NYSE:WTR) announced today that it has hired Melissa Grimm as director, corporate and public affairs for the company which provides public drinking water and wastewater services to 2.8 million people in 13 states. In her new role, Grimm will oversee the company's federal, state and municipal legislative affairs, communications and corporate contributions.
Grimm comes to Aqua America from her most recent role as executive director of Philadelphia 2016, where she spent the last year developing and executing a regional strategy that led the City of Philadelphia to the second round of cities considered by the U.S. Olympic Committee to host the 2016 Olympics. Prior to that Grimm was director of the Port of Philadelphia and Camden where she led three departmental business units of the $230 million transportation organization. Grimm, who has extensive experience in marine transportation and trade, and economic development, is credited with significantly increasing port revenue while decreasing operating costs during her six-year tenure at the port.

Grimm, who has a B.S. in business administration from Villanova University, earned her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC and is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She was among Philadelphia Business Journal's 40 Under 40 and Philadelphia Leadership's 101 Connected Leaders last year.
